![]() This is how the story goes . . . Sarah and Jennifer met over four years ago at a moms group at the Elliot Hospital. Sarah's son and Jennifer's daughter are a few months apart in age. They would see each other at the moms group and also at My Gym classes. Once the children were a little older they each went their separate ways and only ran into one another at the park, or at the occasional birthday party of a friend. As time went on they each had another child, Sarah a little girl, and Jennifer a little boy. During the summer of 2007, Jennifer and Sarah met up again as their two oldest spent a week at soccer camp in July. Jennifer and Sarah sat watching the activity from the sidelines and trying to keep their youngest occupied with snacks and various toys. Their friendship was reunited as the two little ones drank each others drinks and ate each others snacks. At the end of the first day, Sarah’s son ran over to her and said, "Mommy, I want her to come to my house and play." He was referring to Jennifer’s daughter. After the first play date together, Jennifer and Sarah (and children) became inseparable. They enjoyed Sarah’s pool, going to the lake, and long days at the beach. One day at Sarah's pool, Jennifer told her that she takes yoga on Tuesday night and once a month or so she and a few of her friends go out for margaritas afterwards. Sarah replied, "It’s like mind, body, and spirits." They both laughed at the joke and continued on with the rest of their day. For some unknown reason, Sarah's words resonated in Jennifer's head. Then out of nowhere she thought, "Hey that would make a cute tee shirt." A few days later at the beach Jennifer told Sarah her idea. She explained the image she had in her head, "It would be a girl sitting in lotus pose with one of her hands in the shape of and 'O' and in the other a martini glass." Sarah loved the idea. The next time the two were together again, Sarah told Jennifer about some other tee shirt ideas she had. They laughed and began formulating ideas for tee shirts with women doing yoga and drinking alcoholic beverages. Finally, one afternoon they decided, "Let's just do it. Let's start our own tee shirt business." That was sometime in September. The brainstorming began and the endless lists piled up. The meetings ranged from pushing shopping carts through Target, to eating lunch with all four kids, to hanging out in the minivan for an hour just to keep each other in the loop of what was going on and what was next to tackle. The journey has not been the easiest one and they have experienced many speed bumps along the way, but they continued on always ending their e-mails back and forth to one another with their company mantra, "My positive outlook will make us successful." They decided to start with girls doing yoga and drinking, but in order to get a wider customer base the ideas needed to branch outward. They began to do some research on what all their friends were doing for their minds and bodies and how they could make a tee shirt that was clever and had activities that women did and a way to combine that with an alcoholic beverage. The ideas for the tee shirts are to be fun, to make you laugh, and to remind you to enjoy life. Life may be good, but it’s better with a cocktail! Of course, the girls on the tee shirts are drawings ~ please do not try this at home, or the gym, or anywhere for that matter. If you are thinking that the 'N in our name is missing the other " ' " – we know it's not grammatically correct, but we like the way it looked better, and hey, girls drinking and doing yoga or any other activity for that matter isn’t all that correct either! Have fun, tell all of your friends about us and buy some shirts!!!!!! Cheers, |
